Earth Day and National Pet Adoption Day

“Invest in our planet.” That is the theme for Earth Day 2023.

Earth Day is an event that takes place every year on April 22, demonstrating support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, Earth Day now includes a wide range of events coordinated by EarthDay.org

This year, there are six main focuses for 2023 Earth Month, which you can discover here. We encourage our residents to participate in Earth Day in as many ways as possible. Also, The Burton urges our community to continue their Earth Day activities all year.

Later on in the month, April 30th is National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day- A day focusing on raising awareness for the thousands of animals that are waiting, and needing, adoption from shelters. This day encourages you to visit a shelter and find your new forever fur-baby.

Even if you are unable to adopt, there are other ways to help out. You can donate your time by volunteering! You will be helping the animals exercise and socialize. As well as giving yourself some furry-friend-fun-time. You can also check out your local shelter’s donation list and bring any items that you are able.

These April celebrations focus on giving and charity, so make sure to take some time to focus on yourself and do some self-care this month!
